How To Upcycle Op Shop Photo Frames

Looking for a budget friendly DIY that packs a powerful painting punch? You’ve come to the right place. Upcycling op shop photo frames is not only affordable, but also easy to do. In just 3 steps, you can take pre-loved frames and transform them into stunning pieces of home décor all through the power of paint. Here’s how:

Step 1:

Sand down your frames with 120 grit sandpaper to dull the finish. Then, wipe away the dust with a microfibre cloth.

Step 2:

Next, apply 1x coat of Zinsser Bullseye 123 Primer spray to your frames and allow to dry. It’s important to spray an even coverage of primer to ensure you achieve the desired finish of the topcoat.

Step 3:

Finally, choose your colours and head to your local Inspirations Paint store for some sample pots. Then, apply 2x coats of your chosen sample pot colours to the frames, allowing the first coat to dry completely before applying the second.

Don’t be afraid to get creative with the painting. We added a stripe pattern to one of our frames and painted the frame mat of another so that our beautiful colour palette was on full display.
