Your project is only as solid as your preparation. It can be the difference between a successful and hassle-free end result, or a complete frustration-rich failure. With years of experience in helping with various DIY and renovation projects, we’re perfectly aware of that.
Painting is challenging, but with good masking – no challenge is too big. Our comprehensive masking tape range and a wide selection of specialised film will give you plenty of options to choose from and help you create something you can be proud of.
Make It Stick
Choosing the right type of masking for different applications can be quite a headache. There are so many options, and – to make matters even worse – so many different environments, nooks and crannies (and corners!) that require a wide array of completely different solutions when it comes to painting.
And it was supposed to be a quick revamp, right? With all the cutting in and trimming, it can get really messy in a blink of an eye. And before you know it – all that hard work is ruined…
So, here’s a quick overview of all the products and their applications to make things easier for you and prevent that from happening.
Masking Tape
An adhesive tape, typically quite light, designed to stick to any surface instantly and protect it from various things (including unwanted paint drops and brushes) or to help create clean and crisp paint lines. Now since it can mean many different things, there is also quite a wide range of different types – from general use or multi-purpose for indoor and outdoor applications to delicate surface tapes with easy removal and precision line tapes.
Painter’s Tape
It’s also an adhesive tape but this one typically uses slightly stronger adhesives. It’s also more resistant to high temperatures and UV. That’s because it was designed specifically for painting to prevent any bleeding into covered areas and not leave any residue adhesive after removal.
Masking Film
Who doesn’t hate paint spills and splatter? You think it’ll never happen to you because you’re so careful. Bad news – happens to everybody. Thankfully a masking film is a perfect solution. Its whole purpose is to protect your floor, furniture or whatever you need to cover. Some models are even electrostatically charged to better cling to surfaces. Available in different sizes at Inspirations Paint.
Accessories
If you’re looking for a way to make your work even easier, check out our specialised accessories, like various types of film dispensers and applicators.
Masking Tape vs Painter’s Tape
Still confused? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Even seasoned veterans sometimes cannot tell the difference. After all, they have similar jobs to do and look almost identical. The main difference is quite simple – painter’s tape is designed specifically for painting. That normally requires the use of slightly different (and stronger) materials. It’s supposed to prevent any bleeding into the surface and it shouldn’t leave any adhesive residue upon removal. Masking tape is an older technology, used chiefly to maintain the hold adequately, so these may not be exactly perfect for every painting job. The good news is, some tapes can do both nowadays. There are specific types for different applications that can do just as good a job.
