How To Dilute Sugar Soap

Clean smarter, not harder and prep you walls with ease thanks to Selleys Sugar Soap. We love using the concentrate, but it’s super important to get your ratios right before you start cleaning. Here’s our simple guide to diluting Selleys Sugar Soap for every surface.

Kitchen and bathroom surfaces:

Step 1:

To clean floors, walls, and cupboards, mix 1/2 cup of Selleys Sugar Soap with 5 litres of water.

Step 2:

Soak a soft, clean cloth in the sugar soap solution, wring it out, and use it to clean the surfaces.

Step 3:

Rinse the walls with clean water to remove any soap residue.

General Cleaning:

Step 1:

For stubborn stains in the bathroom or grease in the kitchen (sinks, benchtops, stoves), directly pour Selleys Sugar Soap onto a cloth or sponge.

Step 2:

Wipe the surface and rinse it clean.

Expert Tip: To create an all-purpose hard surface cleaner, mix 1 part Selleys Sugar Soap with 10 parts water in an empty spray bottle. Adjust the concentration based on the cleaning task.

Painting & Wallpapering:

Step 1:

Add 1/2 cup of Selleys Sugar Soap to 5 litres of water for cleaning walls during painting or wallpapering.

Step 2:

Soak a soft, clean cloth in the sugar soap solution, wring it out and clean the walls.

Expert Tip: Always start washing from the highest point to the lowest to prevent streaks.

Step 3:

Rinse the walls with clean water to remove any soap residue.

Selleys Sugar Soap Limitations:

•    Avoid letting Selleys Sugar Soap pool on surfaces not being redecorated.

•    Promptly remove any splashes of Selleys Sugar Soap with clean water.

•    Immediately wipe off the solution from aluminium and brass surfaces.

•    Rinse glass surfaces thoroughly before the product dries.

Cleaning is a vital part of the prep when your getting ready to paint, so don’t skip it. Whether you’re repainting a nursery, making over a bathroom or adding colour to your wooden door, prep is the most important step.
