Inspirations Paint held its 19th National Conference in Darwin from 22-25 July 2025. Inspirations Paint is a national paint franchise servicing both the retail DIY and professional trade markets with 130 stores across Australia. The biannual conference brings together franchisees, suppliers and National Office support staff for both business and leisure.
A highlight of the three-day event was INSPO EXPO which ran across a full day and was closed to franchisees only. INSPO EXPO was first introduced at the 18th National Conference in Brisbane in 2022 however was only held over a half day. The post-conference survey results indicated this was something franchisees loved but wanted more of, so it was brought back in a bigger and much more structure way in Darwin.
INSPO EXPO was structured around 27 topics spanning Marketing, Finance, HR, IT and Business Operations. Franchisees had the option to nominate the areas of interest prior to the conference which formed the basis of a personalized program for each franchisee. Franchisees had fourteen 12 minute, speed dating style meetings with National Office support staff, the subject matter experts for that particular topic, over the course of the day..
National Office staff prepared each franchisee a comprehensive information doc on their topic which included data points that franchisees already had access to, however, the information was further broken down to include benchmarks, their store’s performance, comparisons and an action plan for the year ahead. This document was published in advanced which became the guide for the 12 minute meetings.
INSPO EXPO was a valuable addition to the conference for franchisees as it balanced leisure with tangible business outcomes and actions into the future.

The final event of the conference is the Berger Ball and Awards Night which acknowledges franchisees, suppliers and National Office staff who have achieved excellence. The most prestigious award for the Inspirations Paint group is The Coat Award, which has only been awarded 14 times in the company’s 44 year history.
The Coat Award recognizes a person who goes above and beyond for the business over an extended period of time. They embody The Inspirations Way, the core guiding principle for the business, as a minimum. The act of going above and beyond the baseline standard is what earned this year’s recipient this prestigious award. Joel Goodsir, Head of Marketing for Inspirations Paint has been with the business for 21 years and was the 15th winner of The Coat. It’s extremely rare to have a length of tenure spanning two decades and yet matches the sustained growth the business has endured across the same timeframe. This win was well deserved and earned.
