What the hell is Eggshell?
The first question you might ask yourself is “what the hell is Eggshell?” Believe it or not… this comes up a lot. But don’t worry. We’ve got the answer.
Eggshell paint sits between low sheen and matt. This gives it a subtle hint of shine while maintaining a velvety, matt finish. The result… a finish that oozes sophistication and elegance.
But it’s not just about the looks. Eggshell is also highly durable and fully washable. This means that it will not only elevate the high traffic areas in your home, it’ll stand the test of time (and children) too.
How can I use Eggshell paint to transform my bedroom?
We’re glad you asked. Below is our step-by-step guide to transforming a bedroom with Porter’s Eggshell Paint. Plus, you’ll see we painted a bold ¾ wall to add some personality and modern flair to this space. Step 1:
Fill any holes in the walls with Selleys Spakfilla Rapid and allow to dry. Caulk along the trims with Maverick Gap Sealant. Wipe away excess sealant with a damp cloth.
Step 2:
Sand the filled holes with 120 grit sandpaper before lightly sanding the whole wall. Wipe away all dust from the surface of the wall.
Step 3:
Apply 2x coats of Porter’s Eggshell Paint to the walls in your chosen colour. We are using Porter’s Paints Popcorn. Allow to dry between coats.
Step 4:
Measure and tape the ¾ wall. Use masking tape only to avoid pencil marks showing through the paint.
Step 5:
Bleed seal the tape with Porter’s Paints Popcorn. This is the secret to achieving clean lines every time
Step 6:
Apply 2x coats of Porter’s Eggshell Paint in your chose feature wall colour to the ¾ wall. We are using Porter’s Paint Half Grey Pepper. Cut in around the edges before rolling. Allow to dry between coats.
Step 7:
Apply 2x coats of Porter’s Paints AquaSatin
Step 8:
Remove the tape from the wall. Pull the tape at a 45-degree angle from the wall to avoid pulling off the fresh paint.
